In Love- Photo Challenge

This weeks challenge photo comes with a picture from last week.
No matter how wonderful or horrible of a day we have, Lola's nightly bath always brings me an enlightening perspective. Sitting beside the tub, washing the day away from her, I realize that I am always presented with a clean slate and a fresh start, every morning.
I love that!

Movin' On Up

Happy Birthday!!!!
Well, my baby will be turning five in February! No, not Lola. My blog. This little piece of history was created  only months after Pieter and I started dating. I was pretty awestruck by my new guy: his devotion to blogging, his cute little fohawk, the way he rocked jean on jean...eh... Nevertheless, his love for writing and blogging became, for me, a new freedom for expression.

This upcoming year, I'd like to branch out and do more. Write more. Photograph more. Get more familiar with the wonderful depths of the Blogosphere, and really appreciate the beautiful connections that are out there waiting to be made. So to kick off year five, I have created a button. Bare with me, it's totally amateurish...I'm still totally new to all this. So grab it and pass it on. Spread word. Spread joy. Spread love!

Hanging Our Hearts

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. And how else to better celebrate this over the top lovey-dovey holiday than with a little chicken who really loves to get creative.
Lola loves to paint- for about ten minutes. Then she'd rather hassle me to do the work for her while she delegates just how many layers of red and pink paint it takes to create a Lola-riffic masterpiece.

The thrill of painting came and went. It was time to move on to bigger and better things. I have been buying those gummy window clings for Lola since Christmas because I thought she would really enjoy decorating our windows. Well, I was right, but I never expected her to turn into the monster she does when we are all done.

Yes, my daughter spelled LOVE backwards all by herself.

Our little apartment has officially been heart attacked!

Soaking Up The Sun

Rise and shine!
Those were words I felt, yesterday, I wouldn't be living up to. Those of you who read my Early Tuesday Morning post know that I had a hard time sleeping. So after a long and grueling hour and forty five minutes of tossing and turning, I got out of bed, groggily headed to the kitchen and whipped up some breakfast. I took my time eating while reading through all the late night and early morning posts of fellow bloggers, enjoying every minute of this early morning's silence. After my "long" three hour work shift, I headed to the store in search of some picnic snacks. Once I got home, we packed up, and headed out to McKinley Park.

Ah, McKinley Park. It's the kind of park that takes me back to my childhood. It's the kind of park that makes every visit a rewarding experience .It's the kind of park that I hope Lola will always remember.

The pond was filled with ducks and geese and turtles, their loud quacks and honks reminding you that they are the rightful inhabitants.

The sun's heat was bright and warm, cleansing any thoughts of an earlier foggy morning.

Lola enjoyed exploring the big wooden playground, climbing and crawling through doorways and tunnels.

Our spread was built up of strawberries, cheese cubes, carrots, raisins, pita chips, and Gold Fish. We indulged in our snacks and soaked up the sun. It was a good day!

Early Tuesday Morning

It is wonderfully silent at 4a.m, wonderfully silent! My babes are tucked away, dreaming sweet dreams, evident from the smiles on their faces. The misty fog of a sleepless night subsides with each sip from my big mug, awakening my mind minute by minute. The days to-do list races through my mind, filtered and sifted through a screen of 'I'd rathers'. Maybe crafting, maybe picnicking, maybe cleaning...maybe all of the above. Here's hoping my "cameo-shift" flies by.

Happiness is coming home to this face!

Park Day

We have been called out of our little apartment into warmer weather and bluer, sunnier skies. This break in weather could not have come at a better time either. Our Sacramento Winter has been fairly mild with breaks from rain and a lack in bone-chilling temperatures. But it's mildness has still left me with a heavy spirit. I've been craving the weather of early Spring, when breezes roll in daily and the neighboring trees are clothed with the look and scent of sweet, white blossoms. We have been so fortunate because the last 48 hours have been surprisingly pleasant. So what did we do? Along with our bucket of sidewalk chalk, we headed to the park!

Have a happy weekend!
